IO Interactive, the masterminds behind Hitman and other gaming gems, might just be gearing up to release its most ambitious project yet with 007 First Light. This action-packed title promises a thrilling ride, with some of the largest missions ever created by the studio.

When asked about the game's opening, franchise art director Rasmus Poulsen revealed that 007 First Light begins with a calm, story-driven introduction. "The drive in… It's about giving you that sense of immersion, where we're inviting you to roleplay James Bond, experience the world, and form your own expectations of the mission at hand." As players explore these early moments, they'll get a taste of what's to come.

But don't be fooled – things quickly pick up pace when players arrive at the "chateau." According to Poulsen, this is where the game really shines. "When you arrive, we dive into much more familiar territory from an IO perspective and from an audience perspective, where we have this chateau laid out before you, which then has in it everything from social gameplay up to the larger areas where you are free to roam around and utilize the width of the gameplay that we have to offer."

And what's in store for players who brave these "larger areas"? According to Poulsen, some of the missions in 007 First Light are massive – the largest IO Interactive has ever done, in fact. When developers like IO Interactive push the boundaries of mobile game development, gamers take notice.

Senior licensing producer Theuns Smit echoed Poulsen's sentiments, assuring fans that 007 First Light is not just a reskin of Hitman. "We brought amazing fresh talent" to the project, including developers with specific driving expertise to help build the new game's car missions. With this level of innovation and attention to detail, it's no wonder fans are eagerly anticipating the release of 007 First Light on March 27, 2026.
