As a lawyer based in Guayaquil, Ecuador, I never thought I'd trade my courtroom skills for coding expertise. However, my passion for mobile game development has finally led me to take the leap and collaborate with Equinoxis Studios to bring my vision to life.

Ecuador is facing significant economic and energy challenges amidst a surge in crime rates. Despite these obstacles, I knew quitting my day job wasn't an option. That's why I sought out the expertise of Equinoxis Studios, one of Ecuador's few dedicated game development companies. Led by Diego Narváez, their team of professionals quickly gained my trust with their impressive portfolio and experience.

Their previous project, "Chakana, Gold of the Gods", showcased their capabilities, making them the perfect fit to help me turn my concept into a reality. After a thorough negotiation process, we signed our contract on November 5, marking a significant milestone in my mobile game development journey.

As I embark on this new adventure, I'm not only investing half a year's resources into the project but also stepping into the unknown world of game development. As my father used to say, "If the challenge doesn't make you shake in your boots, it's not big enough for you." I'm eager to tackle the challenges and learn from this experience.

While I'm limited by an NDA from sharing technical details, I can reveal that our mobile Battle Royale game features a distinct Soviet aesthetic, designed to be easy to pick up yet hard to master. The potential for VR gameplay excites me, and I believe it could truly shine in the future.

In this blog series, I'll share my journey of independently funding the development of a videogame as a professional in Ecuador, collaborating with a remote indie game studio, and navigating the transition from lawyer to game developer.

Until next time, stay tuned for more updates on my mobile game development adventure!
