Welcome to our latest edition of App Store Digest! In this issue, we'll dive into the latest updates from Apple and Google, covering new app releases, UI changes, and best practices for Apple Search Ads. Let's get started!

Apple App Store Updates

Vietnam Gets a New Regimen

As of February 4th, new regulations in Vietnam require games to apply for a license with the local Ministry of Information and Communications to remain available on the App Store. This means that games must now indicate their license number as part of the information they add to their local app store product page in App Store Connect.

Trader Status for EU Apps

Apps distributed in the European Union had until February 17th, 2026, to enter their trader status information in App Store Connect. This is a requirement created by the EU's Digital Service Act. Failure to comply will result in apps being removed from the App Store in the European Union until trader status is provided and verified.

Introducing Apple Invites

Apple has launched a new app called Apple Invites, designed to help iPhone users create custom invitations for any occasion. The app is now available for download!

In-App Event UI Changes

A recent UI change for in-app events has been reported. The "Get" button no longer appears for users who do not have the app installed. This change started appearing as early as November 2024 but is still not rolled out globally.

Google Play Store Updates

UI A/B Test on the Play Store

A new UI A/B test from Google has been spotted, featuring a game's video playing at the top of the store listing, accompanied by a larger app title font. This test was only visible for games but could potentially be applicable to apps with videos as well.

Video Updates

Google is continuing to roll out new UI updates around video content. These updates include portrait video orientation and dynamic headers based on the first 3-5 seconds of landscape video for games. However, not all updates are visible in every market or device.

Seasonality and Creative Research

Easter in the App Stores

It's already Easter in the app stores! From in-app events to screenshot updates, the stores have filled up with rabbits, eggs, and candy! Our AI Screenshot Library shows how apps and games leverage Easter differently across industries and markets. For example, Shopping and Food categories tend to dominate in using Easter-themed promotions.

Screenshots Updates for Easter

We also found screenshots updates for Easter among Board, Family, and Action games. These typically created new content or updated characters for the holiday season. Understanding market trends and previous/current competitors' strategies can help you save time on creative inspiration and be more competitive.
